PleinAir Magazine Proudly Announces
Fall Color Week
Artist's Retreat with Eric Rhoads

Banff, Alberta, Canada
October 5 - 12, 2018

It's All About Painting.
No Competition. No Show. No Drama.
Fall Color Week in the Canadian Rockies will be seven days of painting amazing scenery.

We’ll come in after the majority of the tourists are gone, and live inside the isolated Banff National Park at the Kananaskis Lodge, with 2,400 gorgeous acres right outside your door.

Scenery so spectacular, it makes America’s incredible parks like Yosemite and Rocky Mountain National Park seem small and insignificant … Banff National Park is filled with majestic scenes you can paint morning and night.

As at all Publisher’s Invitationals, we gather to make new friends and connect with old. Plus, like other Fall Color Week events, we’ll go during the peak of fall color season, the most beautiful time of the year, when the aspen trees are glowing gold.

You can fly or drive (passport required either way) … and you’ll need a car to get around to various painting locations.

We’ll spend most of our time painting in the park, but on two different days we will drive to paint in Banff (one-hour drive) and in Lake Louise (1 1/2-hour drive). These are two iconic scenery locations.

Like all Fall Color Week events, we will provide you with breakfast, lunch, and dinner each day.

One All Inclusive Price
One price includes your room, your meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner), and the event. The cost is $2,297 per person for a shared dorm room. (Payment plans available depending on sign up date.) The event is open to 100 people (and more if we can obtain more rooms).

Optional Gift
Tremendous resources and planning go into this event by your host. The event is priced to be affordable. Therefore we suggest a gift of a framed painting 9x12 or larger. This is NOT REQUIRED, is not payment or compensation and is not tax deductible. It is our desire to one day create a plein air museum, based in part on paintings from the people in these events. Paintings should be shipped to a provided address in advance of the event.

How It Works
Each day we drive (or car pool) to specific painting locations (car required). We often paint as a group, though smaller groups and individuals often go off and paint on their own. We typically have one day where all people paint the same location and shoot a group photo. (Note magazine article may be written about event.) You may paint the park or anywhere in the area.

Attendees Should Be Mobile
To attend you should have the ability to be mobile. Some may wish to paint out of the backs of their cars, others will need ability to climb rocks or steep hills to hike to find painting locations. Your safety is our main concern, but we also want you to have fun and ability to participate.

Weather is Unpredictable
October in Alberta can be cold — you should come prepared for any weather, heat or cold, wind, rain or even snow.

Painters Must Provide Their Own Supplies
Art stores are a rarity. You will need to bring your own solvent, and painting materials.

No pets please.
